Brain & Memory Blood Tests

Brain and memory blood tests look for treatable causes of tiredness, brain fog and memory change, and, where it is clinically appropriate, for the newer blood markers linked to Alzheimer's disease. Many cases of poor concentration and low energy have a cause that shows up in blood: thyroid problems, low B12 or folate, iron deficiency, poor sleep-related hormone changes or blood sugar swings.

Blood London offers two panels in this group at Harley Street. Tiredness and Brain Fog checks thyroid, B12, folate, iron, blood count, glucose and inflammation markers in one sample. The Alzheimer's p-tau217 pathway is a specialist test for phosphorylated tau 217, a blood marker associated with Alzheimer's changes in the brain, offered as part of a clinician-led pathway rather than as a stand-alone screening test.

Each panel has a fixed price covering the laboratory work and a structured report, with the £50 phlebotomy fee added in the cart. Results are sent by email, and a doctor review is included or available depending on the panel, as shown on its page.

What blood tests can explain brain fog?

Thyroid function, vitamin B12, folate, ferritin, a full blood count, glucose or HbA1c and inflammation markers cover the most common treatable causes. The Tiredness and Brain Fog panel includes these in one sample.

Is the p-tau217 blood test a diagnosis of Alzheimer's?

No. p-tau217 is a marker associated with Alzheimer's changes and is used within a clinical assessment alongside history, cognitive testing and, where needed, imaging. It should be arranged and interpreted by a clinician.

Do I need to fast?

Only if your panel includes fasting glucose or insulin; the panel page tells you. Water only for 8 to 12 hours is enough.
