Diabetic Profile 2

Diabetic Profile 2 checks your current blood sugar, your average blood sugar control over the past two to three months, and whether any protein is leaking into your urine, an early sign of kidney strain linked to diabetes. It suits people with diabetes who want a fuller check than glucose alone, or anyone investigating possible diabetes with a family history or symptoms. The profile costs £161.25 plus a £50 blood-draw fee, with results back in 2 days. You can walk in or book online at 117a Harley Street, seven days a week, with no GP referral needed.

This profile is often requested for people already diagnosed with diabetes who want a periodic check that goes beyond a single glucose reading, including an early look at kidney health.

It's also useful for anyone with a family history of diabetes, or symptoms such as increased thirst, frequent urination or unexplained tiredness, where a doctor wants a fuller picture than glucose alone.

Some people request it as part of routine monitoring alongside lifestyle changes, to track whether their average blood sugar control is improving over time.

Because this profile includes fasting glucose, you should fast, having nothing to eat or drink except water for at least 8 hours beforehand, and tell the phlebotomist whether your sample is fasting or non-fasting when you attend. HbA1c and the urine microalbumin check do not need fasting. Follow any additional instruction from your doctor.

A raised glucose or HbA1c result suggests your blood sugar has been running higher than expected, though a single result doesn't confirm diabetes on its own and needs repeating or interpreting alongside your symptoms.

Protein found in the urine microalbumin check can be an early sign of kidney strain and is worth acting on promptly, especially if you already have diabetes. Book a doctor's appointment to go through the report properly, particularly if glucose, HbA1c or microalbumin come back outside what's expected.

If you want these markers alongside a doctor's examination and a wider health assessment, compare the Full Body MOT health check.

Next step

Do I need to fast for this test?

Yes, fasting is needed for the glucose component. Have nothing to eat or drink except water for at least 8 hours beforehand and tell the phlebotomist your fasting status.

Why does this profile check urine as well as blood?

The urine microalbumin check looks for early protein leakage linked to kidney strain, which can develop with diabetes before other symptoms appear.

How is this different from Diabetic Profile 1?

This profile adds a urine microalbumin check to glucose and HbA1c, giving an earlier look at kidney health alongside blood sugar control.

How long do results take?

Results are back within 2 days.
